In short

Staylio includes full accounting for corporate housing operators: a general ledger with a chart of accounts and GL account mapping, journal entries and batch posting, a bank register, bank reconciliation and period close, deferred revenue and revenue recognition, a trial balance and balance sheet, profit and loss by unit, by client and by period, and sales and lodging tax reporting by jurisdiction.

01

### The ledger underneath everything

Invoices, payments, vendor bills, deposits and refunds post to the general ledger through your account mapping. Journal entries handle the rest, posted one at a time or in batches.

- Chart of accounts and GL account mapping
- General ledger and GL register
- Journal entries and batch posting
- Trial balance and balance sheet

02

### Banking and the month-end close

Keep a bank register for each account, reconcile, and close the period when it balances. A books health check flags what needs attention before you close.

- Bank register and bank reports
- Bank reconciliation
- Period close and period reassignment
- Books health and balance sheet reconciliation

03

### Reports that answer the real questions

Which units make money? Which clients? How much rent is billed but not yet earned? The reports are built around how corporate housing actually runs.

- Profit and loss, by unit and by client
- P&L comparisons
- Deferred revenue and its rollforward
- Revenue recognition schedule
- Sales tax report by jurisdiction

FAQ

## Accounting & reporting: questions

**Is Staylio's accounting a full general ledger?**

Yes. It has a chart of accounts, journal entries, a trial balance, a balance sheet, bank reconciliation and period close, not just a list of invoices.

**How is rent billed in advance handled?**

Rent billed before the period it covers goes to deferred revenue and is recognized when it is earned. The deferred revenue rollforward and the revenue recognition schedule show both sides.

**Can Staylio handle lodging and sales taxes?**

Yes. Tax jurisdictions, tax profiles and tax types are set up once and applied to bookings, and the sales tax report totals what you collected. Rules vary by place; read [our guide to the 30-day rule](https://staylio.co/blog/lodging-tax-30-day-rule/).

**Can we export our data?**

Yes. Data export is built in, and every change is recorded in the audit log.
